List 10 facts about yourself, then post this on 10 of your favourite blog’s asks :)

oh gosh ummm…

1. I’m afraid of many things, only a few being heights, the dark, spiders, insects and especially sharks and other most other aquatic creatures.

2. I became an intense video game lover from watching my older brother play video games and consequently accidentally deleting some of his save files when I wanted to play(I’m sorryyyy)

3. Sometimes I’ll start a book from the middle for no apparent reason and then when I’m a third way through will go back to the beginning and then either read all the way through from the beginning or jump back to the end. I really don’t know why I do this!

4. My favourite medium is oil paint even though I haven’t worked with it for very long.

5. I feel extremely uncomfortable and self conscious while getting my hair cut, yet don’t give a shit when I have to strip down for a doctors appointment.

6. I have a best friend that I’ve known since junior kindergarden. Upon introducing her to my mother I declared us twins because we had the same sweater.

7. I have no idea what I want out of life besides hopefully finding someone who will love me and continue to enjoy painting.

8. Every summer I make it a habit to read this atrocious teeny boppers romance novel called Kiss Me Creep, the only reason I own it is because the previous owners of my family’s cottage left it there.

9. I was an extremely picky eater as a child (even now I can be quite annoying to eat with) and I apologize to my mother and father for making them stress out about me being slightly under weight as a child (my father was raised by Italian parents and the fact that I didn’t eat much caused him much distress)

10. My birthday is june 9th 1994, and to my brother’s and my horror we  found that on the nintendo 3DS when making a mii the birthdate was placed so that 06 09 1994 looked like 69 and my little cousin was there and my brother and I shared a mix of both amusement and terror in that moment

Thank you for the opportunity to share!

Beginning a new painting

Still have a long way to go but I’m happy to say that I’ve finally gotten around to painting again.

(took the idea from a photo I saw back a while ago, but I can’t find it again so I’m going with random assorted reference material for colour and shape)

Starting with acrylic then once I’m happy with it I’ll add highlights/go over the whole thing in oil paint.

Summer painting goal

Once I get my hands on a bunch of small canvases I think I’m going to start on a summer long project, focusing on the female nude and flowers, which are two things I want to learn how to paint better… I think I’ll use acrylic to make the base and then go over it with oil paints? I think I’ll do a group of small ones and then attempt one on a much larger scale…

Completed sculpture project, it didn’t turn out the way I wanted but I still like it… I’m so glad I’ve finished all of my art critiques for the year!
The sculpture had to be an extension of our body(I chose my hair) so I made a helmet with braids made from chains. It’s a little longer then I am so about 5’6 when I’m around 5’4. I had help hanging it from the ceiling.

Summer Goals:

I like to make lists to remind myself what i need/want to do…

1. Get a part time job: momma needs a new pair of shoes(or in this case money for school and comics)

2. I want to paint: I have four months to paint and I really want to practice and try new things.

3. Life drawing classes: we have cheep ones that run all around Ottawa and I want to get a better understanding of the human body (Bring on the naked people!)

4. I want to try all sorts of mediums: resin(rings!), oil paint(Which I’ve used but only for a few works, embroidery, shrink film(cute keychians aww yeah)

Any other suggestions for mediums? Or just crazy awesome stuff to do during the summer in Ottawa?

Final sculpture presentation, the hand in the middle of the circle is made out of ice(with leftover alginate inside because that shit juts on’t come out man…) The hand melted throughout the presentation/day so that was very fun, but I’m glad  it’s over and done with so that I don’t have to remember how frustrated I was at that one piece haha. I’m very pleased with myself and with how everything turned out. The overall theme was about decaying and the fleetingness of beauty. Taken in the plaster room at the visual arts building on my campus.
